Grief Country Reflections Edition
Recently published, this new version of Grief Country: A Meditation on the Landscape of Loss makes a book I created some years ago widely available and adds useful new features.
Born out of the deaths of my parents in 2005 and 2006 and my subsequent work with hospices and grief groups, Grief County uses the metaphor of landscape to evoke the terrain we travel as we move into and out of bereavement. All of us walk this path at one point in our lives or another, yet it's also a journey that can make us feel very alone; I hope Grief Country will affirm the universality of this often disorienting experience. Remembering the difficulties I had with attention, energy and focus at the deepest points of my grief, I crafted the brief text and chose the sepia images to create a book that that would resonant and yet readable in a single sitting, demanding little but hopefully offering much.
The new Grief Country adds a series of gentle prompts and journaling pages to the original edition for readers who wish to do some further reflection on the book's images and themes.
